Instead of pulling my regular shenanigans of kicking back and enjoying a few too many beers on the long weekend, I decided to really disconnect with a few friends. Getting a chance to try out my backpacking setup I've been working on was just what I needed to rejuvenate my brain and body.
Time away from a screen or some sort of Internet connection is extremely rare for me. It brings a certain peace that I cannot otherwise attain. Having time to yourself and your own thoughts without interruption truly is something special.
It's trips like this one that remind me to make a little part of my daily routine a no connection time; reading, cleaning, biking or taking a walk are some of my usual go to options. Even just leaving the phone behind while going on a grocery run in its own sad way feels like a break.
Whatever your mini disconnect time is, value it and dot forget to take it as frequently as possible.
